Honor Society Service Project

Honor Society 20151031 (smaller)

On October 31, the Greyfriars Honor Society spent 2 hours on a service project: spreading mulch for the headmaster. ¬†While our club desires to serve the wider community through organizations like Matthews HELP center (food drive) and Operation Christmas Child, we also desire to serve our school community. Mr. McGowan, our headmaster, tirelessly serves the school. So we wanted to give back to him and his family. The combined force of 20 people (students, parents and siblings) reduced the massive pile of mulch in 2 hours. Several parents and students spread mulch and burned dead brush and logs while the others worked to load and move mulch between the driveway and the backyard. At the halfway mark, the students enjoyed Mrs. McGowan’s delicious cinnamon rolls as a treat. As president of the Greyfriars Honor Society, I am thankful that we had the opportunity to bless the McGowans with our work! [Post contributed by senior student Kaitlyn M.]
